Thank you to everyone for signing up for needed adult leadership positions at the October meeting. The list includes:

Sally Christian – Sergeant-in-Arms Chair
Chaperone 4-H Camp – Catherine Scheving
Web Master – Diana Tashjian and Julie Colglazier
Craft Coordinator – Terra Cruz
Uniforms – Leila Cavallaro

Adults are still needed for Junior Teen Leadership Chair, Awards Chair, Leadership Council, Record Book Judging, and Audit Committee. Most of these require one or two meetings and they are a good way to get involved.

Adults who have been involved all summer include Selma Michael (Registration), Dawn Olson (Project Leader Coordinator), Rob Tashjiian (Treasurer Advisor), and Julie Colglazier (Community Club Leader).

Thanks to adults who are providing adult supervision for youth- run committees. As you know, a goal this year is to have youth do as much as they can to organize events for the Club. They are
Heidi Ontiveros – Newark Days and Coastal Clean-up
Skit Night Preparation – Catherine Scheving
Club Refreshment Chair – Karen Foster
Newsletter Chair – Diana Tashjian
Fund Raising – Diana and Rob Tashjian
Presentation Day Advisor – Debby Ring
VFW Goodie Bags – Sally Christian

Still needed are adults to supervise youth involved with Skit Night Writing, Record Book Advisor, County Fair Chair, Potluck Coordinator (March meeting),Cake Booth sign-ups, Year End Party, Scrapbook Coordinator, Canned Food Drive, Adopt a Hospital. Again, many of these are one-time events which won’t happen without adult involvement.

We will have a brief time for parents to meet after the November program. I will again have the job descriptions for the needed positions. Also, we will review the Working Rules, the procedures for our club and answer any questions.

Last year a Parent Committee was formed to hold parent meetings to assure communication among parents and the Community Club Leader, to provide a forum to address issues brought up by parents or project leaders, and to provide mini training sessions particularly for new members.  Meetings are generally held monthly right after the youth program while the youth are doing a hands-on project and having their snacks. We would like to continue these meetings this year.  The first meeting will be held by Rob Tashjian, Adult Treasurer Advisor.  During the youth program (see The President’s Corner for details), Mr. Tashjian and April Cavallaro will hand out copies of the budget with a brief explanation. While the youth are painting pumpkins and having snacks, Mr. Tashjian and April will lead a meeting to answer any specific questions you may have.
