By Julie Colglazier Alameda County Fair will be from June 24-July 10 Start planning on what you want to enter. Some of the things you can do are:
Educational Panel - A panel is an educational display on a 4'x8' sheet of plywood. Panels may be constructed by an individual or a project group.
"Make-It And Take-It"- Experienced project members, leaders and parents are invited to share their talent by teaching a craft that can be made and taken home by the fairgoer. Youth are responsible for planning a ONE HOUR activity involving 10 participants (1 hours session or two 1/2 hours sessions run back to back). "Make-It/Take-it", you may take credit for doing a demonstration in your record book.
Educational Club Booth- The feature Exhibit Booth gives the fair- goers an idea of the things the 4H program encompasses and it helps the club members crystallize their thoughts on what they have learned as a result of their project and community club activities.
4H'ers In Motion- "4H in Action" is an opportunity for a 4H member to informally "show and tell" a special skill he has learned in the 4H program. The public can ask questions to learn more about the project the member is working on. "4H in Action" requires action such as construction, motion or talking. A member could build a rocket, decorate a cake, groom a cat, show how to tool leather or other skills members learn in 4H projects. 4H Leaders are also invited to do "4H in Action'.

Alameda County Fair (2004) By Celia Ontiveros I was in my mother’s car with my two rats, Ruffi and Siam, a waiting my destination, or, to be blunt, the Alameda County Fair. I was taking my rates to the small animal pets show. I will tell you right now that Ruffi is a hairless rat, so you can expect anything when you go somewhere with Ruffi. Well, for that exact reason, I got into the next round! As I did my talk for the second round, Ruffi stood up on her hind legs and started dancing. Soon the judge called all us contestants up to the front to get our ribbons and Ruffi and I won the GRAND PRIZE! I really had a great time, and I encourage you to enter your own small pet in it!. |
