CAL Conference
CAL Conference (from February 2005 newsletter)
By James Michael-Sandness
I went to CAL conference and it was a very educational and entertaining experience. When we got there the staff was still setting up so we just sat around and did nothing for a while. Then other people started coming and we started doing icebreakers. That night we had an orientation. We then went to bed. The next day we went to workshops that taught us how to be better leaders.
The workshops were group building, goal setting, social skills, personality, and conversation. The workshops were very useful and I learned a lot I feel that the Conference made me a better leader. I think that Cal conference should be one of the requirements for camp academy. I will continue to go to Cal Conference as long as I can.

CAL stands for Create a Leader. About 70 kids were at Walker Creek Ranch in Marin County. We stayed in nice cabins with great food. The programs were well organized and taught us about leadership skills. We also learned many games and songs. I would encourage you to go next year!
